Middle/High School Teacher of Theatre
I graduated from McDowell High School in Erie, PA, with an honors scholars track. My undergraduate degree is in theatre from Pennsylvania State University. My Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre and Performance is from Louisiana State University.
BA in Theatre, Pennsylvania State University, 1992; summa cum laude, honors scholar
MFA in Theatre and Performance, Louisiana State University, 2011; summa cum laude
I have been teaching 6th through 12th grade theatre classes and dual enrollment at the Math Science Arts Academy West since 2013. My students learn ensemble building, improvisation, movement, voice, scripted work, script analysis, theatre history and stagecraft. Most importantly, they learn empathy and how to better communicate and work with their peers. Prior to teaching at MSA West, I taught Theatre History at Baton Rouge Community College, and Acting and Improvisation at Louisiana State University. I have been a professional actor for over twenty years, and a member of Actors’ Equity Association, the union for stage actors, since 2000.
Prior to moving to Baton Rouge, I worked extensively in Philadelphia with many companies such as The Wilma, The Walnut Street Theatre, Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival, The Lantern, Interact and 1812 Productions. I was an apprentice with the Arden Theatre Company, and taught playwrighting for the Philadelphia Young Playwright’s Festival, in addition to private coaching. Since moving to Baton Rouge to pursue an MFA, I have appeared in Talley’s Folly, as a founding member of Bridge Nouveau Theatre Company, Twelfth Night with The New Orleans Shakespeare Festival, and Noises OFF!, August Osage County, King Lear, A Doll's House and The Royal Family with Swine Palace Theatre Company.
